If you have lived in the valley of the sun for a while, certainly you have heard of Barrett -Jackson. It is an event that draws visitors from all over the country to north Scottsdale. But what is Barrett – Jackson and do you have to be wealthy or a car collector to attend?
Barrett-Jackson Now and Then
For the last 45 years Barrett – Jackson auto auction visits only select cities such as, Scottsdale, Las Vegas, NV and Palm Beach, FL. In 1971 Russ Jackson and Tom Barrett started the auction with just a few select cars and has now grown into a huge event for many to enjoy. This year they will have its largest docket with over 1,500 classics, muscle cars, exotics, hot rods, and restorations. This event will be at Westworld, north Scottsdale from January 23-31, 2016. Visitors attending will either be participating or enjoying the cars as a spectator. In past years the Batmobile has crossed along the auction block selling in 2013 for 4.25 million dollars! The Dukes of Hazard’s General Lee and even the ambulance linked to JFK have been sold at this infamous auction.
This year we expect to see a Volkswagen Jetta from the first Fast and the Furious and a 1992 Peterbilt 379 stunt truck from the first Transformers film. Also up for auction is the 1970’s Trans Am from the movie Smokey and the Bandit, along with a 1966 Dodge Tradesman A-100 custom Supervan used in Back to the Future II and Sea Quest. Besides vehicles that have appeared in famous films, the coolest classic and antique vehicles will be up for auction. A 1950’s Ferrari and a 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom will be available for purchase. If your a classic car lover, expect to see quite a few mint condition Corvettes and Mustangs.

What to do at Barrett-Jackson
Barrett – Jackson is a huge event, and is more than an auto auction, there are vendors, food, car care clinic’s by McGuire Products and plenty of celebrity sitings. This year Jay Leno will be attending and selling his one-of-one Harley-Davidson F-150. Proceeds will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Several other vehicles will be auctioned off to raise money for United Way, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground and other charities.
What does your car and a Barrett-Jackson car have in common?
While you are touring the big auto auction, consider that every car that has run across the auction block has most likely passed through an auto body shop. Sure not all cars are involved in a collision but still need some TLC from weather exposure like sun, wind, rain or maybe the dryness of the desert. Even if your car is handled with care and garage kept little scratches and dings still manage to appear. Taking care of your car means receiving the highest value at trade – in or not being overcharged at end of lease inspection. Airpark Collision Center is a full service auto body repair shop and that means you don’t have to be involved in a collision to need our services. Some of our customers see us to buff out scratches, perform paintless dent removal or replace a molding or side mirror. We know our customers are conservative when paying out of pocket, so we provide options, but will not compromise on quality or materials. We know cars sold at Barrett – Jackson are cared for with skilled labor and premium products, and so are vehicles repaired at Airpark Collision Center, your Scottsdale auto body shop.
