Why Don’t We Waive Deductibles?

“Do you waive deductibles?” We are asked this question at least once a week. The answer is “no”. We are simply not that kind of auto body repair shop. When you see a collision repair center offering to waive your deductible, it is often because they are billing the insurance company for a part or repair and then simply not doing it. Some consumers might feel ok about that or have no choice if they cannot afford the deductible.

Airpark Collision Center has always had a reputation for repairing high end vehicles. Leaving a part off or skipping a needed repair does not sit right with us. We pride ourselves on quality repairs and know our customer base.  Our new and long term customers are consumer savvy and drive newer model vehicles. They want their vehicles repaired correctly, and safely. With our customers and our facility sharing the same philosophy we have offered a lifetime warranty on auto body repairs since opening in 2006.

Some collision repair shops will state that they complete every repair and install every part billed to the insurance company. They also state they are simply giving a $500 or $1000 discount. Hmm…mathematically, that is hard to believe. Some other things could be happening here:

  • The customer’s vehicle is getting used or aftermarket parts when the insurance company paid for OEM.
  • The customer’s vehicle is getting something repaired that should be replaced (this affects the structural integrity of the vehicle).
  • The collision repair center is pushing a lot of cars through the facility to make up lost profits in volume.
  • The auto body repair facility is using substandard materials and/or paint products to make up the difference.

In other words, be cautious of the collision repair center that saves the customer’s deductible. They may be taking short cuts in your repair, which could depreciate the value of your car. Chances are if they are desperate enough to use these tactics, they probably won’t be around to honor a warranty.

Airpark Collision Center suggests you shop around. You will definitely notice a difference of professionalism at a facility that is not using these desperate tactics to gain customers. Airpark Collision Center is locally owned and operated, we see our customers around town and care about the quality of work and safety of our customer’s vehicles. We are starting our 10th year in business and like having the reputation of being the best collision repair center. Honesty and quality work is what makes our auto body shop really unique in this industry.
